SoulChart is operated by Feltsadas Games, registered in the Netherlands ("we", "our", or "us"). We are the data controller responsible for your personal data under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. Information We Collect

This policy covers both the SoulChart mobile application and the SoulChart website (soul-chart.app).

App Data

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, display name, and username. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from your Google account.

Birth Data: To provide astrological and numerological calculations, we collect your full name, date of birth, time of birth (optional), and place of birth (optional). This data is essential for the core functionality of the app.

Journal Entries: If you use the Mood Journal feature, your mood ratings, emotions, energy levels, and notes are stored to provide insights and pattern analysis.

Device Information: We collect your device's advertising identifier (for ad personalization), Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) tokens (for push notifications), and crash/diagnostic data.

Usage Data: We collect anonymous analytics data about feature usage to improve the app experience. This includes which features are accessed and general usage patterns.

Website Data

Analytics: We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to collect anonymous browsing data such as pages visited, referral source, and device type.

Advertising: Google AdSense may place cookies to display relevant advertisements and measure ad performance.

Email Signups: If you sign up for launch notifications, we store your email address.

Cookies: Our website uses cookies for analytics (GA4), advertising (AdSense), and storing your preferences (theme, consent choice). You can accept or decline non-essential cookies via the cookie banner. Essential cookies (theme preference) are always active.

3. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

We process your personal data on the following legal bases:

Contract performance (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR): Processing your birth data and account information is necessary to provide the core app functionality you signed up for (birth chart calculations, horoscopes, numerology).
Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR): Personalized advertising, analytics cookies on the website, push notifications, and email signup for launch notifications. You may withdraw consent at any time (see Section 7).
Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR): Anonymous usage analytics to improve the app, crash reporting to maintain service stability, and fraud prevention. Our legitimate interest is balanced against your rights and does not override them.

4. How We Use Your Information

To calculate your astrological birth chart, numerology profile, and Chinese astrology profile
To generate personalized daily horoscopes, moon phase guidance, and numerology readings
To enable compatibility analysis between users
To provide mood journal insights and pattern detection
To display relevant advertisements to free-tier users
To process premium subscription purchases
To send push notifications about cosmic events (if you have enabled them)
To analyze anonymous usage patterns and improve our services
To detect and prevent crashes and technical issues

5. Data Storage, Security, and International Transfers

Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase (Firestore) with encryption at rest and in transit. We use Firebase Authentication for secure account management.

Your data is processed and stored in Google Cloud data centers, which may be located outside the European Economic Area (EEA), including in the United States. These transfers are protected by:

Google's compliance with the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework
Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission
Google Cloud's SOC 2, ISO 27001, and ISO 27018 certifications

RevenueCat (subscription management) may also process data in the United States, protected by Standard Contractual Clauses.

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services, each acting as a data processor on our behalf:

Google Firebase: Authentication, data storage (Firestore), crash reporting (Crashlytics), and analytics (Firebase Analytics)
Google AdMob (app): Displays advertisements to free-tier users. AdMob may use device advertising identifiers and usage data for ad personalization. You can opt out of personalized ads in your device settings or via the Google Ads Settings page.
Google AdSense (website): Displays advertisements on our website. AdSense uses cookies and may collect browsing data for ad personalization, subject to your cookie consent.
Google Analytics 4 (website): Collects anonymous website usage data, subject to your cookie consent.
RevenuCat: Manages premium subscription purchases and entitlements. Receives your anonymous user ID and purchase data.
Google Sign-In: Optional authentication method. We receive your name and email if you choose to sign in with Google.
Firebase Cloud Messaging: Delivers push notifications. We store your FCM device token to send notifications you have opted into.

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. Your birth data and journal entries are never shared with third parties for their own purposes.

Limited data is shared with the third-party services listed above solely for the purpose of providing app and website functionality. These services act as data processors under GDPR and are contractually bound to protect your data.

If you use the Friends feature, your username and display name are visible to other users who search for you. Compatibility analysis is only performed when both users consent.

We may disclose your data if required by law, regulation, or legal process.

8. Your Rights

For all users

You have the right to:

Access your personal data through the app's settings
Correct your birth data or profile information at any time
Delete specific data such as individual journal entries, saved profiles, friends, and birth data without deleting your account
Delete your account and all associated data through the app's settings or by visiting soul-chart.app/delete-account. All personal data will be permanently removed within 30 days. See our account deletion page for full details on what data is deleted and retained.
Export your data in a portable format upon request
Opt out of personalized advertising through your device settings
Opt out of push notifications through your device settings

Additional rights for EEA residents (GDPR)

Under the General Data Protection Regulation, you also have the right to:

Withdraw consent at any time for processing based on consent (e.g., personalized ads, analytics cookies, push notifications). Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
Restrict processing of your personal data in certain circumstances (e.g., while we verify accuracy of disputed data).
Data portability: Receive your personal data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format and transmit it to another controller.
Object to processing based on legitimate interests. We will cease processing unless we demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds.
Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. For the Netherlands, this is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (AP) at autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl.

Additional rights for California residents (CCPA)

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, California residents have the right to:

Know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose.
Delete your personal information, subject to certain exceptions.
Opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell your personal information as defined under the CCPA. However, certain advertising practices (such as personalized ads via AdMob) may be considered "sharing" under the CCPA. You can opt out of personalized ads in your device settings.
Non-discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA rights.

In the past 12 months, we have collected the following categories of personal information: identifiers (name, email, username), date of birth, geolocation data (birth place), internet activity (usage analytics), and inferences (astrological and numerological profiles).

9. Children's Privacy

SoulChart is not intended for children under 16 in the EEA or under 13 in other jurisdictions. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under these ages. If we discover that we have collected data from a child under the applicable age, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at privacy@soul-chart.app.

10. Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all personal data including birth data, journal entries, and profile information will be permanently deleted within 30 days.

Website analytics data is retained in anonymized form for up to 14 months. Email signup data is retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion.

11. Automated Decision-Making

SoulChart uses automated processing to generate astrological charts, numerology profiles, horoscope readings, and compatibility analyses based on your birth data. These are generated using astronomical calculations and do not constitute automated decision-making with legal or similarly significant effects under GDPR Article 22.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Your continued use of the app or website after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
